The meaning of AlKauthar

On the day of Judgement, mankind and jinn will have waited thousands of years for the judgement to begin. When the people will have waited for so long in the intense heat of the sun, the most welcoming and refreshing sight to them, like an oasis in the desert, will be the pond of AlKauthar, the pond of Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. We learn from the authentic ahadith that AlKauthar is square in shape, with two pipes feeding into it from Jannah. Its length is like the distance of travel between Medina and Sanaa in Yemen. Its water is whiter than ice, sweeter than honey and more aromatic than musk. It has cups like hollowed out pearls and they number as many as the number of stars in the sky. The one who drinks from it will never be thirsty again and when people drink more, it will only be out of pure pleasure. At the pond of AlKauthar, the people of the truth will be separated from the people of falsehood.

Such is the vision of AlKauthar Institute. AlKauthar endeavours to undertake a sweet, aromatic, refreshing and professional approach to the understanding and application of Islamic knowledge to enrich the lives of individuals and communities. Like AlKauthar, we envisage to separate the truth from the falsehood and firmly establish the Ummah on the Qur’an and the Sunnah of Rasullah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.

Linguistically, AlKauthar means abundant good. AlKauthar Institute aims to be that source of abundant good for all Muslims, leaving a lasting legacy for the future. Just like the cups of AlKauthar are numerous in number, we sincerely believe that so too will be our students. Finally, like the white, sweet and aromatic water which AlKauthar carries, we believe that students graduating from AlKauthar will be able to appreciate the beauty of this religion, experience the sweetness of faith, and, like the cups carrying the beautiful water, be able to carry the magnificence of this religion to the rest of the world.
